Custom Slumped Bottles

Sandblasting a customized special up-cycled bottle is done in the same way, but first a bottle must be slumped. No two bottles will ever come out exactly the same.

A bottle is placed in a kiln on a flat kiln shelf or a special shaped mold, It is then taken to approximately 1400 degrees F and melted to take a shape. Next the bottle is annealed (cooled down) to harden the glass for an hour. The kiln is then shut off to cool to room temperature on its own. This will take the stress out of the glass. But like any glass object it is never a guarantee that it won’t break. All glass is FRAGILE.

Cutting Bottles to make a Customized Special Etched Gift

Cutting a wine bottle to make a vase, wind chime or drink glasses is done by a tile saw with a diamond glass blade. The edges are then sanded with a wet belt sander for a smooth edge. After the glass bottle is prepared it can be sandblasted with a mask to make a special one of a kind gift.
